Every time I passed by this sculpture I didn’t have a clue about what the artist want to say us. It looks like he couldn’t decide which way to go. But…it made me laugh and thinking about it every time, so it has affected me anyway…
Actually the horse (in front of the seminar building of the Heidelberger Druckmaschinen) symbolizes the process of printing: The round body symbolizes the rotative printing process, the (at night) glowing eyes the scanning of the artwork, the wings stand for speed (Heidelberger Druckmaschinen produce very fast printing machines) etc.
It’s right across from the train station, so actually not in the Old City (city center). Whoever arrives by train to Heidelberg and leaves the station won’t miss it.
Fantastic b&w. Smooth as silk!
Fantastic indeed.

Incredible.
The ears look like smilies
It’s the wings, not the ears!!
What an amazing piece of art! I have missed that during my sort stay in Heidelberg :-(. Love the editing to black and white.
