Some do and even retweet. But not so many. Same on Facebook and google plus. On twitter I am more successful with my articles (mainly consumer journalism). I think most people who are on twitter just post their stuff without reading what their followers post as it is so time consuming. Have you tried StumbleUpon? I get most of my clicks from there.
